Who is
better for the Pakistani economy? Imran Khan top in Bloomberg survey
According to
a Bloomberg survey, the jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is
the best option in the eyes of Pakistani finance professionals who can play an
effective role in reviving the troubled Pakistani economy.
According to
Bloomberg's report, 12 respondents in this survey rated 4 Pakistani politicians
on a scale of one to five as to who can manage Pakistan's economy better. These
12 respondents included traders, economists, and analysts from the country's
largest brokerages.
The four
politicians included Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan
Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman Stability Pakistan
Party Jahangir Tareen, and Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan.
In the
results of Bloomberg's survey, Imran Khan was on top with 44 points, while
Nawaz Sharif was second with 37 points, Bilawal Bhutto was third with 22 points
and Jahangir Tareen was fourth with 20 points.
Respondents
to the survey cited the former cricket star's growing popularity as a key
reason, saying he would be able to drive market-focused reforms in the long
run.
On the other
hand, Nawaz Sharif, the three-time prime minister of Pakistan, came second in
the list because the respondents said that Nawaz Sharif has the experience of
being in government and also has the support of the Pakistani army.
